Why choose Renault?

Renault is another French manufacturer that builds some of the most popular vans in the UK market.

There are three models in the Renault van line-up, starting with the Kangoo and peaking with the large Trafic.

The Kangoo has a distinct design and front-end but it’s one of the most flexible models in the Renault stable thanks to its fold down seats and moving partition.

In fact, the Kangoo is that varied that there’s even an electric version in the form of the Kangoo Z.E.

In the middle of the Renault van range is the Trafic, a larger van than the Kangoo, it comes with a lot more storage and space.

At the top of the range is the Master medium size van which, as you’ve probably guessed, is larger than the Trafic.

All Renault vans are flexible and come with lots of different seating and sizing options. So whether you want more seats in the back, a longer wheelbase or a taller cab, you’ll be able to get what you need from the Renault range.

Important to remember

If you get a Trafic and add extra seats in the back so you can use your Renault van as a minibus, then you’ll need to get a specialist form of van insurance.

If you’re getting rid of all the seats so you can carry more of your delivery items in the back, remember you’ll need a specialist type of delivery van insurance for your Renault.

And that’s where The Van Insurer can help you and your Renault van. We help you compare Renault van insurance prices from some of the UK’s leading insurance brokers.

If you find a cheaper quote for your Renault van insurance anywhere else online, we will beat it!

Had this van for ten years from new. Only failures have been the EGR valve (just disconnect it, it reduces engine power so much), an alternator, one ball joint and a clutch. Other than that it's just been routine tyres, brakes, glow plugs, normal servicing. Still on the original exhaust and battery.

When a glow plug fails it puts engine and gearbox into limp home mode! (stupid design but I carry a spare now).

Oh and one rear door hinge siezed and snapped despite being "greased on each service" (Yeh right!). Replacement £300 from Renault or £15 from the breakers.

The load space takes 8x4 sheets and the over cab takes 3m long conduit/pipe all in a short wheel base that fits in a normal parking space.

The quick shift auto is rather 'agricultural' but it does allow the sixth gear to be very high and saves fuel. (A manual sixth that high would be tedious to drive).

Very economical, I average 36mpg and get 40+ on a long run. My old sprinter gave around 25mpg.

Tows a 2000kg trailer with 1500kg in the back without too much drama.

There is a dangerous design fault with the brake pedal switch. If you kick it (easily done) it snaps off, then the cruise control doesn't disengage when you brake and it tries to fight the brakes until you turn it off manually. Also the anti stall fights you and doesn't drop the clutch when you brake to a standstill. Both could cause a crash for the unwary. Renault haven't/won't do anything about the defect. I've added a metal plate to guard the switch from damage.
