Land Rover promises style and substance with new Defender Hard Top

If you’re in the market for a new van and like the style of a 4×4, you might want to check out Land Rover’s new Defender Hard Top, which launches later this year.

Priced for around £35,500 plus VAT, Land Rover claims to have created ‘the ultimate commercial 4X4’ with its latest evolution, which it hopes will have appeal for small businesses or those looking to add a little style to their fleet.

It is available in two models, the Defender 90 and Defender 110, with both boasting an impressive payload and towing capacity of 3,500kg.

Both models have been engineered to meet global safety standards and deliver impressive long-haul comfort, promising drivers the unique combination of cargo space, practicality and premium comfort when they’re out on the road.

Sharing its strong body structure and next-generation Electrical Vehicle Architecture (EVA 2.0) with passenger models, the Defender Hard Top is being developed by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations to deliver unrivalled durability, practicality and toughness.

The 90 and 110 Hard Tops will feature independent coil-sprung suspension, with advanced electronic air suspension also available on the 110. Both models will also provide outstanding off-road geometry, with a ground clearance of 291mm, perfect if you need a vehicle that can handle the unforgiving terrain of a building site or more rural driving conditions.

The maximum wading depth of 900mm is also supported by a new Wade programme in the Terrain Response 2 system, which ensures drivers can ford deep water with confidence.

In addition, if gadgetry is your thing, Land Rover’s state-of-the-art Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system provides immediate control of all the major in-van tech functions, including seamless smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Meanwhile, the 3-D Surround Camera system provides an all-round visualisation of the vehicle on the central touchscreen, helping drivers manoeuvre safely in tight spaces or position the vehicle close to items ready for loading.
