World’s first for Ford Transit Custom

The Ford Transit Custom has managed to achieve a five star NCAP rating, a world’s first for a one-tonne van. The vehicle received an overall score of 77% after going through some rigorous crash tests; it also achieved 90% for child protection, 84% for adult protection and 71% for safety features.

The van’s technology also meant it received accolades, particularly for its Lane Keeping Alert and SYNC with Emergency Assistance. The Lane Keeping vibrates the steering wheel and triggers an alert if the driver veers out of lane. The SYNC meanwhile helps the driver to call the local emergency services in the event of an accident via a Bluetooth connected mobile phone.
