The new Volkswagen fleet consists of a mixture of Volkswagen Caddy and Volkswagen Caddy Maxi vans, a Volkswagen Crafter drop side with the trial of a Volkswagen minibus, the Transporter Shuttle. These vans make up a portion of the British gas exchange programme to update its 10,000 strong vehicle fleet.

British Gas engineers and their energy experts will be the ones driving the new Volkswagen vans. These British Gas employees make an average of 10,000 service checks in a day’s time as they keep check on 12 million British homes and one million businesses throughout the United Kingdom. British Gas also provides their customers with energy saving tips and provides a wide range of energy savings products and services that include insulation, smart meters and even devices to harness the power of the sun, solar panels.

The new fleet of Volkswagen vans is equipped with speed limiters for enhanced safety and with racking to control loads if the vans have to come to a sudden stop. Another safety feature included on the new vans is high visibility chevrons on the back doors of the vehicles.

On the outside of the new vans, the iconic British Gas flame is still displayed, but with the new livery there is more space available to display information to keep customers updated.
