Van Drivers Protecting Vehicles from Floods

Sunday, December 20 2009

Van drivers by the thousands are moving their vans to higher ground to protect their vehicles from the floods that have been ravaging the country. People are taking their vans away from the places that are most prone to flood to save their van engines and costly equipment that the vans may be carrying from the tide of rising floodwaters.

Some of the areas that took the brunt of the flood during the past week are Tewkesbury, Cockermouth, and Upton.

One insurance broker in the UK is taking the initiative and is reminding van drivers that they need to move their vans out of the reach of the floodwaters. Swinton Commercial, an entity of Swinton Group is reminding van drivers that although commercial van cover will cover a van and its contents if damaged by a flood it will not cover the money that is lost while a commercial van is being replaced. Swinton points out that sometimes a van is more than just a means of transportation; vans can also be a means of income. That being the case, it is important to keep the van operative with as little downtime as possible.

Swinton Commercial, with well over 500 branches nationwide is the biggest high street insurance retailer in the United Kingdom and won Commercial Broker of the year last year. Additionally, Swinton Commercial is one of the finalists in the 2009 British Insurer Awards.
