Motorists at the scene saw flames shooting out of the top of the burning van as great clouds of smoke rolled out of the vehicle that was turning into an inferno on wheels. The motorists who were there stared in aghast as they waited for the emergency workers to arrive that were notified right away.

A Staveley Head spokesperson commenting about the incident said that it is always a distressing experience to see an accident on the highways, but this accident that saw a van bursting forth into flames makes the accident even more horrifying, hopefully the van operator was not hurt.

At present, there is no word about the van driver, however, the Wales Ambulance service said that they knew of the fire, but that there was no need of an ambulance at the accident.

A spokesperson for the North Wales Fire Service revealed later the fact that two gas cylinders were taken out of the van by emergency workers, and that these gas cylinders were most likely to have been the reason for the van fire after the cigarette was thrown down.

This fire on the roadway wreaked havoc on the A55 with stalled traffic tailing back and reaching back two miles past the Mochdre exit. The situation escalated until traffic was closed on both sides of the A55 for an hour’s time while emergency workers got the situation under control.

Speaking of the fiery incident, Staveley Head, a van insurance specialist said that van drivers can sometimes lose their focus after driving all day, but this incident serves as a warning that just losing your concentration for even a fraction of a second can prove to be deadly.
