Toyota hopes that its new Proace will increase the popularity of the brand in the medium van market. Developed as a joint programme with PSA Peugeot Citroen, both manufacturers will launch their own versions of the van under the names Expert and Dispatch.
The new Proace will come in two lengths and heights and will be available in capacities of five, six or seven cubic metres. The payload capacity will range from 1.0-1.2 tonnes and it will have a towing capacity of up to two tonnes. In terms of the Proace’s size, it will be available in standard, panel, ‘glass’ and crew cab. The crew cab version will be available with six seats. Production of the Proace begins in April this year.
