During the Sunday festivities of the COP15 Climate Conference, a Smith Edison and a Smith Newton were part of a low emission vehicle display and parade that took place in the city centre of Copenhagen. There was a second Edison van showcased at the main entering of an event known as the Bright Green fair that was held in Copenhagen along with the Climate Conference.

Amongst the electric powered Smith vans and trucks was a totally electric van-mounted aerial work platform, the first of its kind. These kinds of lifts are used regularly in the utility sector as a safe way to take workers up to high places to perform maintenance jobs
.
The vehicle with the lift uses the Edison electric van chassis, with a lift apparatus from Time, a Danish outfit. This is the first van in Europe that has both a fully electrically powered lifting apparatus mounted on a van that is fully electrically powered. Both van and lift are powered by Edison’s lithium battery pack. When fully charged the van has the capability of travelling 160km, which is diminished by 10% if the lift is utilised.

Two of the first electric van mount vehicles were scheduled to be delivered to utility companies in the United Kingdom after the Copenhagen conference.
