The following new safety features are standard on all Transporters. A new warning feature on the seatbelt, this feature sends a reminder to the driver that he or she needs to buckle their seatbelt, along with this feature there is the option to deactivate the passenger airbag in the event that there needs to be a child seat in the van. There are new daytime running lights that give the van greater visibility and a braking feature that flashes whenever a driver has to apply heavy braking and deploys the hazard lights in the event the vehicle comes to a stop. The new vans also have a standard feature that in the past was a £295 option; this feature is an Electronic Stabilisation Programme, which gives increased stability in all driving conditions. Other features include anti-rollover protection, ready alert and rain alert braking system for quicker braking, trailer stabilisation, and a new hill-start assistance feature.
The new Transporters also come with some optional features that include, a tyre monitoring system to let a driver know if there is a change in tyre pressure, a side assist feature which alerts a driver to vehicles that may be in their blind spot, a cornering light built into the fog light to light up the path that the vehicle is turning, and there is a reversing camera to show what is behind the van for backing manoeuvres.
These new standard and optional safety features can make 2010 a great year for the Volkswagen Transporter. For more information check with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
