The company reported that though there were some supermarkets that were slow in reducing prices, there were some that were currently offering petrol at a price that was under 110p. At the same time, though there have been some of the road service centres that were offering petrol at nearly 120p per litre.

The best price on petrol currently can be had at Yorkshire and Humberside, where the average price for a litre of petrol is 110.9p. The highest price charged on petrol 113.5p per litre, in the regions of Northern Ireland.

The best price on diesel can also be found in these two areas, with diesel costing an average of 112.8p per litre in Yorkshire and Humberside, and the price of diesel in Northern Ireland costing an average of 114.9p per litre.

When speaking on the petrol prices, a spokesperson for the insurance company stated that time will show how much damage has been done to the reputation of supermarkets as having the best prices on petrol. The spokesperson also explained that according to their research, that driver’s tolerance of higher petrol cost begins to dwindle at the 110p per litre mark, and that petrol at the 112p per litre mark may be enough for many car or van owners to rethink where they purchase petrol.
