Peugeot van sales up

Peugeot van sales saw a marked increase this November, as buyers took advantage of the Peugeot trade-in offers.

When the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) comes into practice in 2012, any high emission van drivers could be hit with fines of up to £100-per-day. In answer to this issue, Peugeot introduced its trade-in scheme, offering up to a whopping £2000 off new Peugeot vans in exchange for vans which do not meet the LEZ criteria.

As more and more buyers traded their old, higher emission van in, sales of Peugeot vans increased by 25% in November alone and 16% overall in 2011 to date.

Peugeot has sold over 18,000 vans so far in 2011. According to the SMMT, this is an increase of nearly 3,000 in comparison to the first eleven months of 2010.

Paul Everitt, SMMT Chief Executive: “Both the van and truck market saw growth, building on the strong market we’ve seen throughout this year. London’s new Low Emission Zone comes into effect on 3 January, requiring drivers of older vans and trucks to upgrade their vehicles, so we expect to see a slight last minute boost to registration levels.”
