It took under £1 to fund the 60 mile trip from Brighton to London in the Nicholson Mclaren Engines converted Nemo Electric vehicle. This astounding feat won the Electric Nemo Van the “Most Economic Light Commercial Vehicle” award in RAC’s first ever “Future Car Challenge” that consisted of a 60 mile run between Brighton to London.

The NME Electric Nemo Van was driven Neil McIntee, who is the editor of VansA2Z, with Simon North of Citroën dealer Bellamys, at his side as his co-driver. In addition to winning the RAC Future Car Challenge, the Nemo Electric Van was the most economical vehicle in the challenge. The Nemo used a little over half the energy that its closest competition for most economical vehicle used, which happened to be a car. The Nemo used 10 units compared to 18 units used by the vehicle that was next in line as most economical.
In addition to the NME Electric Van, there were electric vans and cars in the challenge from a wide range of vehicle manufacturers. Manufacturers that had vehicles in the challenge include Ford, Mini, Nissan, Land Rover, Tata, Smart and VW.
