The most recent recognition of Fiat was handed out yesterday(April 13) at the 2010 edition of the iVan awards, which took place during the Commercial Vehicle Operator Show, in the NEC located in Birmingham. The Fiat Scudo won the award in the Best Compact Van class, with the Fiat Fiorino taking the trophy in the Best Light Van class.
Receiving the trophies from iVan editor John Fife, on behalf of Fiat, was Gerry Clarke, the director of Fiat Professional. Mr. Clarke commented that it was always a pleasure to get an award for one of Fiat’s vans, but receiving two was really a great honour. Clarke went on to reflect on the fact that it is a tribute to Fiat Professional and their great line of vehicle that Fiat continues to stay in the race for CV industry tributes and may that go on for a long time. Clarke also stated that he believed the vans were certainly worthy of due recognition.
The Fiat Scudo was developed out of a long running partnership betwixt Fiat and PSA and is produced in the France at the Sevel Nord plant. The Scudo is primarily designed for use in Europe’s busier towns and cities; some of the qualities of the Scudo recognized by the iVan judges include its ability to carry large loads, easy to load and unload, its selection of cargo space, along with the Scudo’s safety features.
The Fiat Fiorino also is a result of the Fiat and PSA and is produced in Turkey at the Tofas plant in Bursa. It has been designed to be driven on traffic filled city streets, and has enjoyed great success among small business owners.
