In collaboration with Nissan, FedEx Express will be trialling an electric NV200 van prototype on the streets of London for two months as part of an extensive testing programme. FedEx already operates 43 all-electric vehicles throughout London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Memphis.
The e-NV200 is based upon the same style of drive as the LEAF passenger car- which is already available in the UK. The e-NV200 is scheduled to go on sale in 2013.
Hideto Murakami, Nissan Corporate Vice President: “Zero-emission vehicles like Nissan LEAF are already playing an increasingly significant environmental role in our towns and cities. The Nissan NV200 EV prototype delivery vehicle will not only improve the quality of urban life, but thanks to best in class running costs has great potential to ease the economic burdens placed on companies. FedEx Express feedback from the evaluation process will help us tailor a future battery-powered light commercial Nissan vehicle that meets customer needs.”
