End of 2012 sees increase in Van Sales

Tuesday, December 13 2011

This November saw van registrations rise 18.6% above figures from a year ago to a grand 22,684 units, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Throughout 2011, there has been a general increase in registrations of over 17% to 241,738, showing a general upward trend over the year.

SMMT boss Paul Everitt says that the expansion of the London Low Emission Zone from January 2012 will most definitely keep sales high in the short term.

Market leader, Ford, increased sales by 17% to 5969 in November. Ford is now 21% ahead for sales so far this year, with strong demand for the Fiesta Van and Transit underpinning its success.

The Transit is said to have accounted for 22% of the commercial van market sales in November, with sales up from 3837 a year ago to 4696 in 2011.
