Mercedes-Benz, the premiere automobile manufacturer is writing a new chapter in the area of drive technology for LCVs. Mercedes is doing this with the introduction of the first battery-electric van via ex factory by any auto manufacturer. The Mercedes-Benz Vito E-CELL is emissions free LCV that is a perfect van for inner-city projects and for places that are super environmentally sensitive. This electric battery van by Mercedes that gives off zero emissions and runs so quietly that it can barely be heard poses no restrictions on operations when dealing with the load capacity and the payload, with a payload of 900kg. The production of 100 of these electric Mercedes-Benz vans is already underway with 2000 more of the Vito E-CELL expected in 2011.

As operators are looking for solutions for environmentally sensitive areas such as inner city destinations, places with heavy pedestrian traffic, areas that have strict access restrictions, underground car park deliveries and other similar situations, the Mercedes-Benz E-CELL can be a viable solution for theses situations.
