For summer 2010, van drivers planned on leaving their cars behind this summer as they took their families on holiday excursions this year. According to Swinton Vans, a survey they conducted revealed that bigger vehicles would be the choice mode of holiday transportation this summer.

In a poll of 1,000 van insurance customers revealed that 62 per cent decided that a family car just was not big enough or provide enough comfort for a long trip with the children and luggage. It seems that the majority of drivers decided that it would be much easier to take use their vans for their holiday travel plans.
53 percent of drivers planned to utilize their vans only for UK holiday travel, while 27 per cent planned to use their vans for travelling abroad to destinations such as France, Spain or Italy for their summer holiday, as 4 per cent planned to use their vans to go beyond Europe. It is reported that van drivers will have spent 60 additional hours behind the wheel of their vans in the summer month of August.
Phil Moss of Swinton remarked that it was great that van drivers have enough confidence to drive their vans over long distances, and it is definitely a sensible decision to the use a vehicle for holiday travel that will provide as much space as possible.
