TheĀ first details of the Amarok, the soon coming Volkswagen van model have now been made available.

In a press release from the Amarok is described as having the robustness of a pick-up with advanced technology, high safety standards, great fuel efficiency, rolled into the form of a comfortable, high-quality, durable vehicle built to Volkswagen’s high standards.
The Amarok from Volkswagen features a payload capacity of 1.15 tonnes, with a towing limit that is a maximum of 2.8 tonnes, and a cargo area of 2.52 m2. The length of the vehicle is 1,555 mm, with a width of 1,620mm that will make it the biggest van in its class upon its release in the summer of 2010. The Amarok will also have the widest available width between the wheel arches of any pick-up van at 1,222mm, which will allow users to load Euro pallets sideways onto it.
The new Volkswagen Amarok is constructed around a ladder frame chassis, and will come with a choice of either rear-wheel drive or 4MOTION all wheel drive systems.
