As a former mechanic, Wade still enjoys getting underneath the bonnet and rebuilding motors, so it was his pleasure to have the opportunity to perform mechanic duty on the high performance Volkswagen Caddy Racer Van during the excitement of a racing event.
The Volkswagen Caddy Racer Van, adorned with RAC’s bright orange livery, is powered by a 2.0 litre TDI engine that has received an upgrade and now delivers in excess of 270 PS; the Caddy Racer Van also has been fitted to full racing specs with a roll cage and an interior that has been stripped out.
The driver of the Caddy Racer Van, Simon Elliot of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles remarked that it was great to have Wade on the team and that Wade fit in perfectly with team since Wade was used to working under pressure.
Wade said that he was grateful to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles for presenting him with the opportunity and that he could not resist the opportunity to work on the Caddy Racer, he also stated that he enjoyed the experience.
The RAC Caddy Van will be back out on the track again at Snetterton on August 29 and 30 during the next round of the Volkswagen Racing Cup.
