Readers who are familiar with American history may recall an event that happened in the early days of the young country known as Custer’s last stand. Now here in Europe we have Custer’s first stand, the first stand on an electric truck chassis.

The stand or platform is actually just a part of Europe’s boom lift that is attached to an electric truck chassis, this first of its kind boom lift comes via that way of a combination of both Smith Electric’s and Custers Hydraulica’s expertise in the commercial vehicle field. Smith Electric has made a major contribution to bringing to fruition Europe’s very first emission free truck mounted boom lift.
Boom lifts on vehicles are made to provide a safe way of elevating workers so that they can perform work duties at heights that otherwise they would have a hard time reaching. Some of these duties could include street light repair, signs, utility work or working on buildings. In times past, companies that manufactured lifts had to place them on diesel truck chassis; the lift was powered by the trucks diesel engine, which resulted in the release of harmful emissions in urban areas.
Now, thanks to Custers Hydraulica, there is a green solution for boom lifts with their boom lift being mounted on a Smith Electric truck chassis. The lift is known as Custers Taurus 265-12.5E and is powered by the same lithium-ion battery that powers the Smith Newton electric truck that it is mounted on.
As we live in a world that is increasing becoming more aware of environmental issues, Smith Electric continues leading the way in the commercial electric van and truck industry.
