Tuesday, October 20 2009

With much of the world experiencing economic difficulties, it is refreshing to hear a bit of good news. From Citroen, the French van manufacturer comes some news that is good news for the van market, and for the economy in general.

The Citroen Nemo has been named the UK’s most economical van. This van has been reported to get 84.09 mpg. That is a massively impressive number for any vehicle. With the crazily high fuel prices showing no sign of getting back to normal levels (thanks to the 65% tax the UK Government inpose) it is good to know that van manufacturers are moving forward with fuel efficient vans.

A van such as the Citroen Nemo if extensively used as a commercial van could create a major savings for a business; that saving could result in lower prices for the consumer. Good news for the consumer is good news for the economy.

The performance of the Citroen Nemo is something that we should all applaud, 84.09 mpg is a milestone for the economies of running a van. May we look towards the day when fuel efficient vans such as the Citroen Nemo set the standard for vans. One day lets hope that 80 mpg + is not the exception, but the normal range that people get from their vans.
