When the company was contemplating its replacement policy four years ago, a Vauxhall Vivaro demonstrator van was given an evaluation by some engineers of SPP Pumps. The eginners made an unanimous descision to replace with the Vauxhall Vivaro due to its comfort and also because the van drove like a car.

In addition to the comfort and the driveability of the Vauxhall Vivaro, the Operations Manager of SPP Pumps, John Warren said that the looks of the Vivaro also appealed to the company since it portrayed a modern image of the pump company. An image that has seen considerable enhancement due to the putting on of stunning livery that shows large views of SPP’s products displayed alongside a prominent display of the company name.

The vinyls that have been provided by Aldermastons Signs have been put on the base coat of silver paint that the vans were given at production time at the Vauxhall Luton plant. The vinyls will be easy to remove when the vans reach the end of their four year service life with the pump company. This fact, along with high specification features of the Vivaros that SPP Pump is employing, helps to provide a higher residual value and a more economical lease price.

Iveco Launch’s EcoDaily Electric Van

Iveco increases their low carbon expertise with the launch of an electric vehicle, the EcoDaily Electric van and chassis cab. Iveco launched the electric vehicle project in the United Kingdom and Ireland, a project that combines the vigor, output, and flexibility of their light commercial vehicle offerings into a vehicle that does put out any tailpipe emissions. The EcoDaily 3.5 and 5.2 models are unique in that the vans have been designed, engineered and built by Iveco instead of being an aftermarket conversion or a adapted offering produced by a low volume manufacturer. This means that the EcoDaily vans come with a full Iveco warranty and support from Iveco’s global dealership network.

The EcoDaily Electric gives a glimpse into the future of urban transport and is an excellent choice for short trips and for making door-to door deliveries in an urban setting; the EcoDaily Electric is fully exempt from London’s Congestion Charge.

The Product Director of Iveco in the United Kingdom, Martin Flach remarked that Iveco has put a lot into alternative fuel technology since the middle of the 1990s and due to that we now offer the biggest selection of low carbon commercial vehicles that are offered in Europe as the EcoDaily Electric joins the ranks of Iveco’s natural gas variations of our EcoDaily, Eurocargo and Stralis, along with the hybrid Eurocargo.

In real-life tests, the EcoDaily Electric vans have shown a range of 55 to 80 miles dependent upon the number of batteries used and the use of the vehicle. Additionally, the EcoDaily Electric is driven like a conventional van equipped with an automatic transmission, with a gear lever to choose forward, backward, or neutral. Each vehicle is restricted to going 45 mph as a maximum road speed, but this speed can be lowered to give better range.
