A great number of the two million or so people who own caravans will be taking their caravans out on the road over the next couple of weeks, mytyres, an online tyre seller, has compiled some safety tips to help caravanners have a minimum of trouble over the holiday break.

The storage of caravans in the off season can take a toll on a caravan’s tyres, motor caravans and trailer caravan tyres as well. Mytyres is encouraging owners to perform some simple checks on their tyres before taking the caravan out on the road for their own safety and the safety of their passengers.

Below are some tips offered by mytyres:
Caravan owners should check their tyres to make sure that there are no cuts or bulging places on the tyres, and also check the soundness of the sidewalls to make sure that the tyres are affected by ozone cracking.
Caravan owners should check the tread depth of their caravan’s tyres. The law says that tyres must have a minimum of 1.6mm of tread, mytyres recommends considering replacing tyres that have less than 2.5mm.
Caravan owners should replace tyres that are over seven years old regardless of the condition of the tyres.
Caravan owners should check the pressure of their tyres and make sure they are inflated to the manufacturer’s specifications.
