According to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), cheap van hire firms should be approached with caution, as they could in fact be fake companies attempting to scam the public.
BVRLA Chief executive, John Lewis: “These companies offer unbeatable prices and free delivery – but they really are too good to be true.”
Lewis explained that criminals can quite easily have all the trappings of a legitimate company- website, call centre etc, when in fact the establishments are bogus.
The BVRLA recommended that individuals should be wary of organisations that will only accept cash payments and that one should always check to see if a vehicle leasing firm is a registered member of the BVRLA before making any transactions.
