According to estimates, ninety percent of the 250 students at the school in Svaryn, Dragichin province are afflicted with sickness that is related to nuclear fallout from a disaster that occurred in the Ukraine, a neighbouring country. Even though there is so much sickness among the students, the school is without a medical treatment room.

The Mears team is going down to Belarus to correct this situation during a 10-day work camp to be held at Svaryn. Twenty-three members of the company’s staff have volunteered their time to aid in the task of building a new medical room, and also to do much needed repairs at the school. The volunteer team consists of plumbers, IT techs and managers, cleaners and electricians who volunteered their services for this worthy cause.

Steve Davis, who is the Ford Fleet business manger that helped to secure the minibus that was loaned to Mears, remarked that it is an inspiring project that they were happy to support by loaning a minibus. He went on to say that the Mear’s staff must receive applause for selfless act of sacrificing their time for the project and that their employers are deserving of praise for helping their humanitarian effort.
